Narikala Fortress and the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity
There is a legend about the origin of the city of Tbilisi: the Georgian king Vakhtang Gorgasali (5th century) shot a pheasant while hunting, he fell into sulfur springs and cooked. A warm city of Tbilisi was built on the site of these warm sulfur springs (tbili means warm in Georgian). Supposedly in the very place where the king hunted erected the Narikala fortress. Today, at the foot of the fortress there is the Abanotubani area and the famous Tbilisi sulfur baths. Warm sulfuric water enters the bath directly from the ground, it is very useful for the skin and for the body as a whole.
To the fortress, we climb the cable car. From here there is a beautiful view of the city. You can make wonderful photos and see Tbilisi from the height of the citadel. Down we will go down Bethlehem Street - the stairs to the urban area of Sololaki. From where our bus will take you to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Sameba. Following the tour of the cathedral, you will visit the “Waters of Lagidze” - an institution where famous lemonade is made, and try “foaming” - the Tbilisi khachapuri.
Mtatsminda
After lunch, our tour bus takes you to Mount Mtatsminda. Mtatsminda, the holy mountain, in the V century in the cave on its elephant lived the most revered in Georgia, St. David Gareji. In the XIX century above the cave of St. David the temple was built, and the Pantheon grew around. The first on the Holy Mountain was buried Russian writer and diplomat Alexander Griboyedov. His grave and the grave of his wife, Nina Chavchavadze, are still here. From Saint David we will climb higher to the observation deck on the top of the mountain, from where snowy peaks of the Greater Caucasus can be seen in good weather.
Vinotheque
Our big excursion in the Tbilisi winery is over. You can taste and buy the best Tbilisi wines. Here, a professional sommelier will tell you in detail the history of Georgian winemaking, how to choose the right wine and how to combine it with dishes.
